ANAHEIM, Calif. — The Chicago White Sox signed veteran outfielder Randal Grichuk to a one-year, $1.25 million contract on Monday, as fellow outfielder Austin Hays went on the 10-day injured list with a left calf strain.

Hays had just returned from the IL. He was out from April 7-27 with a right hamstring strain. This IL stint is retroactive to Saturday.

Grichuck, 34, began 2026 with the New York Yankees, where he slashed .194/.212/.323 (6-for-31) with four doubles and two RBIs in 16 games. He spent last season with the Arizona Diamondbacks and Kansas City Royals, combining for a .228/.273/.401 slash line with nine home runs and 27 RBIs in 113 games.

Grichuck is a career .250/.297/.464 hitter with 212 home runs and 631 RBIs in 1,377 games over parts of 13 seasons with the St. Louis Cardinals (2014-17), Toronto Blue Jays (2018-21), Colorado Rockies (2022-23), Los Angeles Angels (2023), Diamondbacks (2024-25), Royals (2025) and Yankees (2026).

He has reached double figures in home runs during 10 of those seasons, including a career-high 31 in 2019.

Hays has a .233/.250/.326 slash line with one home run and seven RBIs in 12 games after signing a one-year deal with the Sox in the offseason.

To make room on the 40-man roster, the Sox transferred infielder/outfielder Tanner Murray (dislocated left shoulder) to the 60-day injured list.
