CROWN POINT MAN INDICTED IN ILLINOIS FOR WIRE FRAUD

Federal prosecutors in Chicago have alleged a Crown Point man is a serial entrepreneurial fraudster – indicting him on two fraud schemes worth $4 million.

A grand jury indicted Raed Naser, 41, April 30 in the U.S. District Court in the Northern District of Illinois with 11 counts of wire fraud and four counts of money laundering. He pleaded not guilty.

A new hearing is set for June 10 in Chicago.

Authorities allege Naser made up fake invoices from 2019-2022 for his Orland Park-based freight company for shipments for “Company A” – an Elkhart-based trailer axle manufacturer – worth over $3 million that never happened.

Investigators also said he used credit cards to artificially increase sales figures at two “bakery franchises” to inflate the value of businesses he “sold to an unsuspecting buyer,” according to a release.

Another firm bought the two locations – in Schererville and Crown Point – in May 2021 for $1.3 million, court records show.

Overall, he allegedly used proceeds to buy a couple of luxury vehicles, including a Lamborghini, Cadillac and BMW.
