5. Mount Carmel 23-10 (5): Wake Forest recruit TJ McQuillan leads the Caravan in batting average at .517, homers with six and RBIs with 39.
6. Lemont 26-3 (6): Coach Brian Storako sees his team extend its winning streak to 17 games and earn the top seed in the Class 3A Nazareth Sectional.
7. Lincoln-Way West 20-7 (7): Owen Weber blasts three-run homer in the first inning to spark the Warriors to 12-0 win over crosstown rival Lincoln-Way Central.
8. Sandburg 18-9 (8): Three-sport standout Jake Tomczak, who also plays football and basketball, produces three RBIs for the Eagles in a 7-6 win over Homewood-Flossmoor.
9. St. Rita 20-11 (9): Sully Kazee shuts down Morton in 2-1 win, continuing to shine as the ace for the Mustangs, who are the top seed in the Class 3A Brooks Sectional.
10. Marist 19-10 (NR): Oakton commit Matt Molesky drives in three runs in 10-0 victory over Carmel, extending the RedHawks’ winning streak to five games.
Player of the Week
Senior infielder/pitcher Justin Canvin sizzles at 12-for-18 with nine runs and five RBIs over five games for Oak Lawn, which goes 4-1. The Illinois-Chicago recruit also strikes out eight over five innings, allowing one earned run, in a 7-6 victory over Oak Forest.
