A 15-year-old boy was discovered shot and lying outside on the ground overnight on the South Side in the Grand Boulevard neighborhood, Chicago police said.

Shortly before 3:30 a.m. Thursday, officers responded to a call of a person shot in the 4800 block of South Calumet Avenue and found a 15-year-old boy on the ground with a gunshot wound to the face, police said.

Chicago Fire Department paramedics were called to the scene and rendered medical help to the teenage boy before taken him to Comer Children’s Hospital where he was listed in critical condition, police said.

Detectives were investigating the circumstances leading up to the shooting, and no one was in custody.
