Libertyville senior third baseman Bode Rohrbach began this postseason with two career home runs.

Make that three.

Rohrbach hit a three-run shot on Wednesday as the top-seeded Wildcats defeated fourth-seeded Mundelein 8-1 in a Class 4A Libertyville Sectional semifinal.

Rohrbach’s homer, his second in as many postseasons, provided more than enough run support for senior right-hander Chase Lockwood, an Illinois State recruit who earned the win.

Defending state champion Libertyville (27-10-1), which had split a two-game North Suburban Conference series against Mundelein (22-11), will play either second-seeded Warren (23-10), another conference rival, or 13th-seeded Buffalo Grove (17-19) in the sectional championship game at 10 a.m. Saturday.
