The Homewood Police Department said Monday officers found a person dead of an apparent suicide while investigating the Saturday homicide of 51-year-old Bianca Davis.

The homicide investigation had led police to an address on the 17600 block of Dixie Highway, police said in a news release, and they obtained a warrant to search the home

Officers ordered anyone in the home to exit over a loudspeaker at 6:10 p.m. Monday, police said. When no one came out, police entered and found a person in a bedroom dead of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Carlos Jones, 53, was pronounced dead at 6:40 p.m. Monday at an address on that block, where he lived, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office. His cause of death was listed as suicide.

The development came two days after Davis was shot and killed in Homewood on the 2400 block of 175th Street, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

The address where Davis was killed and the location where Jones’ body was found are less than a mile apart.
