A 14-year-old boy was fatally wounded Thursday night in the Auburn Gresham neighborhood on the city’s South Side, Chicago police said.

Shortly after 11:30 p.m., officers responded to a call of someone shot in the 8000 block of South Carpenter Street, and found a 14-year-old boy with multiple gunshot wounds to the body, police said.

Chicago Fire Department paramedics treated the boy at the scene before taking him to UChicago Medicine in critical condition. He was later pronounced dead at the hospital, police said.

No one was in custody for the fatal shooting, and detectives were investigating, police said.
