  1. “The Republican Party’s age-old problem is that we have failed to attract young people.” — Illinois GOP Chair Bob Grogan
  2. “Since we’re a few weeks away from America’s 250th birthday, it is worth remembering just how radical the whole idea of self-government really was back in 1776. To that point, human history was a tale of conquest and caste and rigid hierarchies, a world where the strong dominated the weak, where power and wealth and status flowed through lineage and the many were ruled by the few. 3. “When city government is disorganized, families pay the price, and when fiscal controls are weak, neighborhoods will suffer.” — Cook County Board of Review Commissioner and Chicago mayoral candidate George Cardenas
  4. “I’m enjoying what I’m doing. Look, it’s hard. It’s a tough job. … It’s not as tough as having a house full of teenagers, of course.” — Mayor Brandon Johnson
  5. “Ships are starting to move, many loaded up with oil, out of the Strait of Hormuz.” — President Donald Trump
  6. “What I can tell you, in ’28, I’m going to be very involved.” — Gov. JB Pritzker
