Two 15-year-old girls riding an e-bike were injured, one seriously, in a crash involving an SUV Tuesday night in Libertyville.
Paramedics were called to the intersection of Milwaukee Avenue and Winchester Road at 9:08 p.m. for a report of a crash involving a vehicle and an e-bike, according to a news release.
Police said a Chevrolet Blazer was traveling north on Milwaukee Avenue and went through the intersection at Winchester Road on a green light.
The Blazer struck an e-bike, ridden by two 15-year-old girls heading east, crossing Milwaukee Avenue just north of the intersection, police said.
Both were initially taken to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville. One girl was transported to Lurie Children’s Hospital in Chicago with life-threatening injuries. The other remained at Condell with injuries not considered life-threatening.
The man driving the Blazer was uninjured, police said.
The crash remains under investigation.
