Blue Line service was disrupted Tuesday morning as Chicago police investigated a death on the tracks at the Pulaski station on the West Side.
Police responded to a call of a battery in progress at the station, on the Forest Park branch, shortly before 5:30 a.m. Upon arriving, they found an unidentified woman on the tracks. According to police, witnesses told officers she jumped onto the tracks after an altercation with another person.
She was pronounced dead at the scene. Detectives are conducting a death investigation, police said.
The CTA said Tuesday morning they had no report of a train striking the woman and referred other questions to police and the Chicago Fire Department. Chicago police deferred to the Cook County medical examiner to determine the cause of death.
Trains were halted about 5:30 a.m. and service resumed between LaSalle and Forest Park shortly before 9 a.m., according to the CTA website. Shuttle buses were used to move riders in the interim.
This is a developing story, check back for updates.
