El Che Bar, the long-anticipated West Loop spot from La Sirena Clandestina chef/owner John Manion, opened quietly last week in the renovated Checker Cab building at 845 W. Washington Blvd. Today, things got a little more official, in that the restaurant has debuted on OpenTable and welcomes your reservations.
As is the trend lately, the menu features chiefly wood-fired dishes cooked on a massive open hearth. Most everything has an Argentinian spin, based on Manion’s travels. See the full opening menu below.
On the bar side, cocktails from Bill Anderson focus on cachaca, mezcal and pisco, and many incorporate smoke, fire and ash from the hearth.
The restaurant seats about 100, with 14 seats at a marble bar that looks right at the grill.
