Scott Baiker, Marian Catholic–The junior third baseman collected eight hits in 17 at-bats for the week, driving in five runs.

Joe Ramirez, Schurz–The senior struck out 17 batters while pitching two complete games and delivered the game-winning hit in each.

Rob Skiba, Notre Dame–The senior pitched a pair of four-hitters, yielding only one earned run and totaling 15 strikeouts.

TRACK AND FIELD

Harlan South, Thornton–The senior won the 200-meter dash in 21.8 seconds and the 400 in 48.2 and anchored his winning 400 and 1,600 relay teams as Thornton won the Palatine Relays title.

Debbie Kreibich, York–The senior set meet records of 12.1 in the 100-meter dash and 24.8 in the 200 and ran on the winning 800 medley relay as York won the Glenbard South Invitational.

Debbie Rutkowski, Richards–The senior won the shot put and discus at two invitationals. Her top efforts were 41 feet 6 1/2 inches in the shot; 135-7 1/ 2 in the discus.

SOFTBALL

Deanne Kaleta, Riverside-Brookfield–The senior posted two pitching triumphs while going 12-for-17 at the plate with 15 RBIs.

Lisa Anderson, St. Charles–The senior catcher collected five hits

–including four homers–in 13 at-bats while driving in 11 runs.

Shannon Guillen, Marian Catholic–The sophomore pitched a no-hitter against Elizabeth Seton, striking out 16 in an 8-1 victory.

GYMNASTICS

David Kanar, Glenbrook North–The senior won the all-around (8.24), floor exercise (8.65) and pommel horse (8.55) at the Niles North Invitational.

Dan Oakley, Homewood-Flossmoor–The junior set a school and conference record of 9.65 for vaulting at the SICA North meet.

TENNIS

Nick Barone, Maine West–The sophomore won the Hersey Invitational singles title when West Aurora`s Jack Salerno had to default in the third set of the final.
