Disneyland/Vista Records and Tapes, the world`s largest children`s record company, is releasing some of its most popular songs on compact disc, making it the first company to manufacture kids` tunes in that format.

Disney quietly entered the CD market last October, when it released its two-volume ”Fantasia” soundtrack ($24.98). But the two-disc set, which includes ”A Night on Bald Mountain” and ”Rite of Spring,” can be considered kids` songs only by parents hoping to introduce their children to the classics.

Disney also is releasing the soundtrack to ”Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs” to coincide with the 50th anniversary of that movie and its July re- release. The 72-minute disc includes the complete story and the soundtrack, with such songs as ”Whistle While You Work,” ”Heigh-Ho” and ”Some Day My Prince Will Come.” ( 1

The company also has included short interviews between Walt Disney and producer/director Cecil B. DeMille, Adriana Caselotti (the original voice of Snow White) and Disney animator Ward Kimball. The recording ends with the rarely heard ”Music in My Soup,” edited from the original picture.

The ”Snow White” CD is the first of a series of children`s compact discs Disneyland/Vista Records and Tapes intends to release. This August, the company will release ”The Disney Collection–Vol. 1,” a 24-song set that includes ”The Bare Necessities” and ”I`ve Got No Strings.” Suggested retail will be $10 to $13.

In September, Disney will release the specially priced ($8-$10) ”Disney Presents a Family Christmas.” In October comes ”Louis Armstrong: Disney Songs the Satchmo Way,” which includes ”Zip-a-Dee-Doo-Dah,” ”When You Wish Upon A Star” and ”Chim Chim Cheree,” all Oscar-winners. It will retail for $10 to $13.
