Telephone service for about 35,000 customers on the city`s Near North Side and in City Hall was disrupted for a half-hour Thursday afternoon because of a malfunction of computer software in the Illinois Bell Telephone Co. central switching station at Dearborn and Illinois Streets, a company spokesman said. A similar computer malfunction on the city`s Far South Side caused a disruption of service for thousands of customers for more than an hour at about the same time.
