Fifty-five films and videos will be shown during the seventh annual Chicago Lesbian and Gay International Film Festival, which begins a week-long run Friday with a pastiche of eight dramatic, comedic and documentary shorts. Sponsored by Chicago Filmmakers, the festival offers a diverse cultural view of gay and lesbian cinema from around the world. Among the films featured are ”Meteor and Shadow” (pictured here), in which a police inspector falls in love with a young musician who is being stalked by a killer; and ”The Outsiders,” the first gay-themed film permitted to be shown in Taiwan-a suspense film about a young boy who falls in love with a suspected murderer. The festival is dedicated to the late U.S. director Arthur J. Bressan Jr., whose film ”Buddies” dealt with the relationship between an AIDS patient and his hospital volunteer ”buddy.”
