Add comedian Tom Dreeson to the list of personalities who might be hosting a late-night talk show.
The Chicago native (who was partnered with ”Frank`s Place” star Tim Reid from 1969-74) reports ”there have been whispers” at ABC and among three different syndication companies about doing a national version of his successful ”Nighttime with Tom Dreeson” talk show, which aired to big numbers after ”Nightline” in Chicago during March.
”I think America is a little tired of Hollywood glitz and New York sophistication,” he said. ”They like shows that originate in the Midwest-like Oprah Winfrey. . . .”
Meanwhile, Dreeson will be joined by Tony Danza, Jamie Farr and Smokey Robinson in Chicago June 26 for his annual ”Day for Darlene” 10-kilometer run to benefit multiple sclerosis research. Dreeson`s sister Darlene has been bedridden with the disease for many years.
