1. Fire at Illinois Bell Hinsdale facility sets off alarm at 3:59 p.m. Sunday at Springfield monitoring site; Bell supervisor in western suburbs is immediately notified.
2. Supervisor calls Bell worker and tells him to drive to the facility;
supervisor also tries to reach fire department by phone, which is apperently already put.
3. Worker arrives at 4:20 at Bell facility and immediately realizes there is a fire; he asks passing motorist to report it.
4. Unidentified passerby reports fire to police department at 4:58;
police notify fire department.
5. Fire trucks arrive at facility at 5:02, more than an hour after fire was detected by Springfield monitor; fire is officially put out at 11:30.
