Clinton Grinnell, acting Lake County sheriff, was named Monday night as the Republican candidate to fill the unexpired term of the late Sheriff Robert ”Mickey” Babcox. Grinnell, a former police chief of Libertyville, was named acting sheriff by the Lake County Board following Babcox`s death in March.
A special election will be held in November to fill out the two-year unexpired term of the late sheriff.
