Services for Richard M. Shure, chairman of Strombecker Corp., a toy manufacturer, will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Anshe Emet Synagogue, 3760 N. Pine Grove Ave. Mr. Shure, 56, died Saturday at Grant Hospital. For 31 years he was chairman of the toy company at 600 N. Pulaski Rd., best known for its Tootsietoy die-cast miniature cars, Kewpie and Dawn Dolls and road racing sets. Mr. Shure also was president of Art Line Corp. at the same address. As a member of the Toy Manufacturers Association of America, he called on other manufacturers in the early 1970s to follow his company`s lead in including consumer safety information on packaging. Mr. Shure, a Near North Side resident, was a graduate and an advisory board member of Claremont-McKenna College in Claremont, Calif. At the time of his death, he also was president of the Midwest Toy, Hobby and Trim-A-Tree Association; a director of the Chicago Crime Commission a director of North Bank; and a member of the Standard Club. Survivors include his wife, Peggy; two sons, Andrew and Thomas; a daughter, Julia; his father, Joseph; and two brothers.
