– Larry Rinker shot a 6-under-par 65 Saturday to tie Steve Pate and D.A. Weibring for the lead after three rounds of the Bank of Boston Classic. Pate and Weibring, who shared the second-round lead, shot 69s and were even with Rinker at 8-under-par 205, one shot ahead of Fuzzy Zoeller, who led for much of the day but dropped back after a double bogey on 17.
– Defending champion Jan Stephenson shot a 5-under-par 67 to take a one-stroke lead after the third round of the LPGA Safeco Classic in Kent, Wash.
– Arnold Palmer rolled in a 25-foot birdie putt on the final hole for a 4-under-par 68 and a three-shot lead after two rounds of the Crestar PGA Seniors Classic in Richmond, Va.
– The Indianapolis Colts have waived running back Joe Cribbs, 30, just two weeks after signing him as a free agent.
– Mike Waltrip, getting his first Grand National victory in four starts, won the Busch 200 at Dover Downs International Speedway. With an average speed of 116.073 miles an hour, Waltrip had a .685-second margin over Tommy Ellis. The victory was worth $9,850.
– Andre Agassi won the men`s singles title, defeating Dan Goldie 6-2, 7-5, and Barbara Potter and Kathy Rinaldi split the women`s prize money after their final match at the All-American Tennis Tournament at Amelia Island, Fla., was canceled after a rain delay. Agassi won $50,000 to Goldie`s $30,000. Potter and Rinaldi each received $20,000.
– Kent Carlsson of Sweden won the 36th annual Count of Godo tennis tournament, defeating Austria`s Thomas Muster 6-3, 6-3, 3-6, 6-1 at Barcelona, Spain. Carlsson took home $63,750.
– The death toll from Friday`s collision near Nashville, Ind., between a car and a bus transporting Kentucky football players reached three. Jean Carver Stone, 66, of Louisville, died Saturday at Indianapolis Methodist Hospital. None of the 36 Kentucky players aboard the bus was injured.
