The Oakbrook Terrace City Council has awarded a contract to Abbott Contractors of Northbrook, for 2,000 liner feet of sidewalk on Summit Avenue where the company is already restoring pavement and curbing.
The council has requested a letter of intent from Du Page County, which is expected to pick up 50 percent of the project. The cost of the sidewalks is expected to be approximately $30,000.
Because the contractor is already on site and has proposed what was considered by Oakbrook Terrace officials to be an excellent price, the council voted unanimously to waive competitive bidding.
