The sale of Zenith Electronics Corp.`s computer products business to Groupe Bull, the French computer company, will be completed with an additional payment of $15 million by the French firm to Glenview-based Zenith.
The sale, announced last October at a price of about $500 million, took place in late December following approval by Zenith stockholders and Zenith acceptance of an initial payment of $496.4 million.
Subsequently, Groupe Bull officials said that by their interpretation of Zenith`s balance sheets, they were due a refund of $49 million. Zenith officials disputed that and said their reading of the balance sheets left Groupe Bull owing $49 million to Zenith.
On Monday, the two parties agreed that Groupe Bull will pay another $15 million, plus interest, to close the deal.
Because the final sum of about $511 million is lower than Zenith recorded on its books at year`s end, the firm`s first-quarter 1990 results will reflect a charge for discontinued operations of about $11 million, a Zenith spokesman said.
