Recycled smoke-belchers: Dozens of smoke-belching old cars took their last ride Friday-to a Los Angeles junkyard where they were turned into scrap metal in an unusual program to cut Southern California`s severe smog. Unocal Corp., a California-based oil company, is paying drivers $700 each for as many as 7,000 pre-1971 cars in the Los Angeles area.
