Push against farm subsidies: U.S. Trade Representative Carla Hills said she will seek a major commitment from the European Community on cutting agricultural subsidies through the Uruguay Round of the General Agreements on Tariffs and Trade. European reluctance to make such a commitment has often been cited as the biggest impediment to successful conclusion of a GATT agreement by the end of this year.
