Campeau Corp.`s two U.S. retail units posted lower sales in July than June, chalking up $50 million in losses. But Campeau said the losses were less than it had expected in a difficult month for retailers. Federated Department Stores Inc. reported a loss of $31.7 million in the four weeks to Aug. 4, against losses of $30.6 million in the five weeks to July 7. Allied Stores Corp., posted a loss of $18.3 million in the period, pared down from a loss of $18.6 million in the preceding five weeks.
