Summer Wind (The Ray Brown Trio; Concord Jazz).
The trio is the basic building block of jazz. It is the rhythm section without a featured soloist, a meeting of near equals (at least when the bassist is Ray Brown).
This group is jazz at its fundamentals, and it does its work with wonderful results. The music looks back more than ahead, but it looks at the most joyful part of the tradition. (Reviewed on CD.)
