John A. Kronon Sr., 90, who had been the oldest original Lincoln-Mercury dealer in Chicago, died Friday in Resurrection Pavilion nursing home in Park Ridge. Mr. Kronon had founded the Kronon Lincoln-Mercury dealership in February 1946. He got started in the auto business as a Cadillac mechanic in 1926. He was a past president of the Chicago Lincoln-Mercury Dealers Association, and he was past president of the Chicago Lincoln-Mercury Dealers Advertising Association. He also was a former member of the board of directors of the Chicago Automobile Trade Association. Mr. Kronon is survived by a daughter, Vivian Lavis; two sons, John A. and Ronald; nine grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; four sisters; and two brothers. Visitation will be held from 2 to 9:30 p.m. Tuesday in Malec & Sons Funeral Home, 6000 N. Milwaukee Ave. Mass will be said at 10 a.m. Wednesday in St. Eugene Catholic Church, 7958 W. Foster Ave.
