Charging that construction of a new lower-priced model home would in turn lower their property values, 60 homeowners in Mundelein`s Country Brook subdivision asked village board members to help in their dispute with a developer.
Michael T. Shrake, a spokesman for the homeowners, told the village board at a meeting Monday night that the new model home is priced $26,000 less than the previous opening-price model.
”We feel the new model is extremely detrimental,” Shrake said. He cited an agreement with the village when the subdivision on Courtland Road west of U.S. Highway 45 was approved two years ago calling for a minimum base price of $135,000 for homes sold in the development. Shrake said that with inflation that should mean a minimum selling price of $154,561 today. The proposed model is priced at $133,000 by Pasquinelli Construction Co. Homes in the development range up to $200,990.
