A-ha

East of the Sun, West of the Moon (Warner) (STAR)(STAR)(STAR)

Six years after their smash debut single ”Take on Me,” and a few years after their follow-up fizzled, A-ha is back. ”East of the Sun” proves that

”Take on Me” wasn`t a fluke but a divergence from the trio`s usually reflective, moody stance. Nearly every song is based on emotions and a response to nature, such as the haunting ”Early Morning” or ”Crying in the Rain.” Listeners who are looking for a band more interested in following its musical style than cashing in with a copycat single might like A-ha-if they can forgive them for being A-ha in the first place.
