Romeoville Mayor John Strobbe said he is undergoing treatment for cancer and will be hospitalized beginning next week.
According to village officials, Strobbe, who has been the village`s mayor since 1985, will be communicating regularly with staffers while in the unidentified hospital and is expected to be back at work in about five weeks. Trustee Robert Stoppenbach, the longest-serving member of the Village Board, will serve as acting mayor in Strobbe`s absence.
