IBM unit to cut staff: The British unit of International Business Machines Corp., IBM UK, plans to cut its work force by about 5 percent over the next two years as part of a strategic shift in its operations, the Times of London reported. The cuts would shrink the number of employees at IBM UK to 17,000 from 18,000.
