Rolling Meadows routed Hoffman Estates 11-0 in seven innings Wednesday to clinch at least a share of the Mid-Suburban League South Division baseball title.

The victory improved Rolling Meadows to 15-4 overall and 10-4 in the MSL South and knocked Hoffman Estates out of the title chase. However, Conant and Schaumburg remain in the title hunt.

Dave Clot (5-1) worked the first five innings to get the victory, limiting Hoffman to five hits while striking out six.

Don Spaniak led the offense with three hits in five trips to the plate, including a home run and five RBIs. Matt Powers was 3 for 4 with a triple, home run and two RBIs.

”This is our fourth consecutive conference shutout,” said Rolling Meadows coach Larry Tanaka. ”We combined execution, defense, hitting and pitching today. It was our seventh win in a row. We haven`t won a league crown since 1987. I feel our chances to win it this time our good.”

Driscoll 6-0, St. Edward 0-1-Kevin Zaleski had 13 strikeouts to lift Driscoll in Game 1. Jason Phillips hurled a one-hitter and Kevin Sardo singled John Pellikan home in the nightcap as St. Edward (11-13, 4-7) handed Driscoll its first loss in the Suburban Catholic.

De Kalb 1, Elgin 0-Dave Kessock (5-2) scattered three hits and Jason French scored an unearned run on two Elgin errors in the fifth to lift De Kalb (16-8, 11-5 in the Upstate Eight).

Montini 6, IMSA 5-Paul Graff (4 RBIs) drilled a two-run homer in the sixth to give Montini a 5-3 lead and added a solo homer in the 10th to lift Montini (15-7, 7-4) in non-conference action.
