A South Side man was in critical condition Thursday after trying to rescue a woman who had jumped into Lake Michigan near North Avenue Beach, police and hospital officials said.
Charles Perdue, 24, of 46th Street and Calumet Avenue, was admitted to Northwestern Memorial Hospital Wednesday evening. The woman was rescued by a passerby, police said.
