Michael Sappanos, 83, a North Side businessman, died Thursday in Fort Lauderdale. Mr. Sappanos was the president and owner of Louis Sappanos Paint and Wallpaper Co. on the North Side. He also served as a director of Grant Hospital, and a member of the board of the Aetna State Bank. Born in Hungary, Mr. Sappanos came to the United States as a child. He served in the Army during World War II. Mr. Sappanos also served as president of the Lincoln Park Chamber of Commerce. Visitation will be Monday from 2 until 9 p.m. in the Svec & Sons funeral home, 6227 W. Cermak Rd., Berwyn where services will be held at 10 a.m. Teusday. Mr. Sappanos is survived by his wife, Genevieve; three sons, Steven, Thomas and Jerry; two stepdaughters, Karen Krause and Sheryl Fazio;
three stepsons, Dennis, Charles and Richard Helton; 16 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
