The Aug. 25 WOMANEWS section recommended books on sex education for teenagers. These books, ”Boys and Sex,” and ”Girls and Sex,” were written by Wardell Pomeroy. If parents are considering purchasing these books for their children, I hope they take the advice in the article and read the books first.
I cannot imagine that most parents would want to provide their teenage sons with a book that gives a very detailed ”how to” description of engaging in sex. How many parents want their daughters to read a list of reasons for having sexual intercourse at an early age? Do they really want their daughters to be encouraged to explore lesbian relationships when they sleep over at a friend`s house?
I believe in teaching sex education to our children, but I think encouraging them to consider this type of behavior is going way too far!
