Both men`s and women`s basketball teams host exhibition games in Alumni Gym this week.
Keir Rogers and his teammates, impressive in an 84-58 rout over a touring team from Lithuania, play at 7:30 p.m. Thursday against a Marathon Oil team that includes Mark Robinson, formerly of Indiana, and former Notre Dame player Scott Hicks.
The Loyola women play at 7 p.m. Friday against the Chicago Challengers, a group of former college stars that includes Colleen Monckton of Loyola and Beth Hasenmiller of De Paul.
Fans of coach Will Rey`s men`s team are welcome at a tipoff party from 6-8 p.m. Nov. 21 at Johnny Red Kerr`s restaurant. That`s two nights before the Ramblers open the regular season at Wisconsin.
The volleyball team carries a No. 3 seed and a record of 24-11, 3-2 into the weekend Midwestern Collegiate Conference tournament at Butler. The Ramblers finished second to the host team in the De Paul invitational. Julie McShane and Kerri Childress made the all-tournament team.
The soccer team earned individual honors after its season ended with a 9-7-2 record and a 2-1 overtime loss to Xavier in the MCC tourney. Ray O`Connell was voted MCC coach of the year. Midfielder Mark Strothkamp made first-team all-conference. Freshman Vadim Vasserman made the all-newcomer team. Backfielders Chris Hawkins and Jay Kreikemeier were named second-team all-MCC.
