Although there`s no track here as instantly infectious as ”Wild Thing,” Loc`s huge 1989 single, ”Cool Hand Loc” is difficult to resist. With his bullfrog voice and relaxed delivery, the West Coast rapper drops into Barry White mode on several ballads, and celebrates the joys of mutual attraction:
”I`m kinda feelin` wise, `cause love is a compromise . . . kind of a give
`n` take thing”-unusually wise words, indeed, in a genre rife with misogyny. ”Fatal Attraction,” which samples Glenn Close`s ”I won`t be ignored!” line from the movie, is a funky good time, as is the playful
”Freaky Behavior.” ”Sometimes I can`t hep myself,” croaks Loc, sounding like a cartoon version of Jerry Lee Lewis. And it`s as a cartoon that one appreciates the low-level charms of this album.
