A week that saw 16 losses by ranked teams shuffled the poll enough to leave a 1-2 showdown just one more voting period away.
Duke (20-1) remained No. 1 Monday as it has every poll since the preseason. UCLA (19-1) moved up one spot to second after Oklahoma State accounted for one-eighth of the losses by ranked teams.
The Blue Devils and Bruins are to play March 1 in Los Angeles. There will be one more poll before that game is played, and Duke has Maryland at home and Wake Forest on the road. UCLA has home games with Cal and Stanford, then visits Notre Dame.
Only Duke and No. 9 Missouri have the same spot as in last week`s poll, and three teams rejoined the rankings as five ranked teams lost two games last week. Iowa State, St. John`s and Georgetown are back in the Top 25, while Louisiana State, Texas-El Paso and North Carolina Charlotte dropped out after two losses each.
St. John`s and Georgetown join Syracuse, Connecticut and Seton Hall from the Big East in the rankings and all five are between 17th and 25th. This is the second time this season the Big East has had five teams ranked-the Big 10 Eight and Big 10 did it once each-and six of the league`s 10 members have been in the poll this season.
Following Duke and UCLA in the Top 10 were Kansas, North Carolina, Arizona, Ohio State, Indiana, Oklahoma State, Missouri and Arkansas.
