A federal lawsuit seeking to block construction of the new Palatine Public Library has been dropped.
U.S. District Judge Milton Shadur dismissed the suit last week at the request of the plaintiff, Marino Midwest Inc. Marino had sued last November, charging that the library district violated the Illinois Public Library District Act by not awarding a construction contract to the lowest bidder.
Although Marino`s bid for the contract, $4.72 million, was the lowest, the district awarded the contract to Boller Construction Co. Inc. for $4.75 million.
Administrative librarian Dan Armstrong said the suit had not delayed the anticipated April 1993 completion date for the library, 640 N. Court Drive.
