Homer Township will conduct a study to determine if township employees are eligible to participate in the Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund.
Township employees currently do not receive retirement benefits. Recently, township residents who attended a town meeting voted to spend $450 for a study that will determine if the township`s 25 part-time and full-time employees are eligible for the retirement fund.
If the answer is yes, township residents would still have to approve the employees` participation at a special town meeting. The cost of the fund would be split between taxpayers and the employees.
