Many of the nation`s finest high school and college wrestlers will compete May 8-10 at Northwestern`s Welsh-Ryan Arena.

There will be two tournaments-the Junior World Team Trials for high school juniors and seniors and the University Divisional National

Championships for wrestlers 19-24.

Both tournaments will feature Greco-Roman and freestyle competition. The Greco-Roman finals will begin at 6:30 p.m. May 8 and the freestyle

championships will begin at 3:30 p.m. May 10.

Three`s a charm: Northwestern defeated Illinois 5-4 to finish third behind Indiana and Wisconsin in the Big 10 women`s tennis tournament last weekend at the Sheridan Road Courts.

Leading the Wildcats were senior Lindsay Matthews and junior Allie Turner. Both had 2-1 records in their singles matches, and they teamed to win their only doubles match. Freshman Joanna Feria also had a 2-1 singles record. Unlucky 13: The Wildcats baseball team will try to halt its losing streak at 13 games in a home game Tuesday against Northeastern Illinois. NU will travel to Illinois for a double-header Wednesday, then return home for double-headers Sunday and Monday against Purdue.

In women`s softball, Northwestern has a home double-header Wednesday against Western Michigan, then will visit Penn State for double-headers Friday and Saturday.

Fore! Northwestern`s golf team finished seven in the 18-team Kepler Intercollegiate tournament at Ohio State`s Scarlet Golf Course in Columbus. In individual competition, NU freshman Bert Roney came in 23rd among 99 contestants.
