After months of quiet testing, Dolby will introduce its digital plus analog optical track format next month with the release of Warner Bros.`
”Batman Returns.”
Dolby hopes to have virtually all of the more than 2,000 ”Batman Returns” prints unspooling on June 19 encoded with the Stereo SR D process, capitalizing on the studio`s big summer release.
The SR D format allows a single print to carry digital and analog optical soundtracks by placing the digital track between the film sprocket holes.
