Quixote Corp.`s fourth-quarter net income rose to $2.1 million, or 24 cents a share, from a net loss a year earlier of $1.6 million, or 23 cents a share. Revenue rose in the quarter ended June 30 to $36.4 million from $31.5 million.

For the full year, the Chicago-based company`s profit rose to a record $8 million, or $1.03 a share, from a year-earlier loss of $3.1 million, or 43 cents a share. Sales rose to a record $129.4 million from $111.8 million.

Quixote said all three of its subsidiaries reported improved results from a year earlier. In particular, Energy Absorption Systems Inc. reported record sales as states began to buy highway safety barriers in connection with a six- year, $150 billion federal highway construction program passed in December.
