Bond has been set at $35,000 for a Carpentersville man accused of beating his pregnant girlfriend early Monday in their apartment, police said. Ramiro Arroyo, 21, of 152A Golfview Lane, was charged with aggravated battery and taken to the Kane County Jail, according to authorities. Police said Arroyo allegedly came home from a dance at 1 a.m. and demanded that the woman and her children leave the apartment. He then allegedly pushed her to the floor and used a shoe to strike her repeatedly about the head, stomach and legs, police said. The victim, who is two months` pregnant, was treated for cuts, bruises and stomach pains at Sherman Hospital, Elgin, and released. Doctors reported that she had not lost the fetus, police said.
