When last we heard from Kathy Sledge, she and her sisters were taunting the Baltimore Orioles after the 1979 World Series with their anthemic ”We Are Family.” Now, Kathy has struck out on her own (in more ways than one) in search of a solo career. ”Heart,” with it`s relentless supply of techno R & B-style ballads, grinds along with all the exuberance of a forced march. While Sledge`s desire to get back into the show is understandable, there is a lot to be said for knowing when to hang it up and rest on your past glories. Just ask Ted Williams and Jim Palmer.
