Talk about your laid-back attitude.

Fans in San Francisco say they are upset about possibly losing their Giants to Florida next season, but they aren`t doing much about it.

Only about 1,200 showed up for a lunchtime Save-the-Giants rally on Tuesday. And even fewer are showing their support with cash.

The San Jose Mercury News reported only 57 people have ordered 1993 season tickets as a way of showing their support for keeping the Giants in San Francisco. Only 24 current season-ticketholders asked their seats be renewed next season.

Attorney Leigh Steinberg, who is leading the drive to keep the Giants in San Francisco, is upset about the lack of public outrage.

”The move is not a fait accompli,” said Steinberg. ”If San Francisco gets off its blase, hot-tub attitude and shows real passion, it`ll make an extreme impact on (Commissioner Fay) Vincent and the owners.”

Last chance: Time may be running out on Mark Grace. If, indeed, this turns out to be the last series the Cubs play at Candlestick Park, then Grace needs a home run before Thursday. Candlestick is the only park in the National League where Grace has yet to hit a homer.

No. 9: Frank Castillo (6-9), the Cubs` scheduled starter Wednesday, needs one more win to surpass his rookie total from last season when he was 6-7. Castillo has made eight starts since his last victory June 28 against Philadelphia. He has a 3.56 earned-run average during that stretch, but the Cubs have scored just 10 runs in those eight games while Castillo was still on the mound.

Hot Scott: Third baseman Gary Scott snapped out of a recent slump with three hits to bring his average back up to .276 after 77 games at Triple-A Iowa. Teammate Hector Villanueva continues to slump, however. Villanueva is batting .246 after 37 games at Iowa.
