Cutback: Luxury carmaker Jaguar said Friday it is planning to eliminate 700 jobs, becoming the latest British automaker to announce employment trims amid sluggish sales. Jaguar, which was taken over by Ford Motor Co. in 1989, said it hoped a new round of voluntary retirements would account for most of the job losses. Jaguar`s workforce is down to 8,000, compared with 12,000 just two years ago.
