Do you want to make the planet a better place to live but think there`s only so much a kid can do? A new worldwide program is looking for kids just like you.
The program, Roots and Shoots, wants to tap into kids` energy and interest in the environment and animals. It`s led by the Jane Goodall (y`know, the chimp lady) Institute in Arizona.
The progam has come up with some solid goals: cleaning up garbage on beaches and in towns, planting trees, helping care for animals whose owners are busy or sick, and promoting the use of products that aren`t harmful to animals.
Clubs will be starting up soon. The clubs will pay dues and receive start-up materials and guidelines as well as newsletters, membership cards and fund-raising ideas. Any student or child can join.
