Melvin Fakter, 71, the former owner of a sheet-metal company, died Sunday in his home in Northbrook. Mr. Fakter was the owner and chairman of Reliable Sheet Metal Works Inc., until last year, when he closed the business because of his illness. Survivors include his wife, Charlene; his son, Mark; and a sister. Services were held Wednesday in Wilmette.
