Joan Beck, in her health-care post-mortem (Op-Ed, Sept. 1) rounded up 16 alphabetized “culprits” ranging from the Clintons to the taxpayers, and invited us to take our choice.
She failed, however, to mention three other major culprits in the health-care debacle: the doctors, pharmaceutical houses and the Big Five of the health insurance industry.
Instead of a single-payer health-care system, we are left with the same expensive, inefficient, market-driven system that brought us to our present plight. Only when we get an administration and a Congress less solicitous of the large vested interests will we see any genuine change.
